Overview
This wide-ranging program opens with Salieri’s entertaining overture to an opera about an opera.
Performed by internationally acclaimed pianist Andrei Korobeinikov, Tchaikovsky’s swooning Piano Concerto No. 1 is the height of heart-on-your sleeve emotion.
Augusta Read Thomas takes inspiration from the “biological ballet” of proteins in the human body for Dance Foldings.
Ives craftily works “Turkey in the Straw” and other American folk tunes into his Symphony No. 2.
