The Rex lee Run for a Cure was organized in honor of former BYU President Rex E. Lee who passed away as a result of cancer. Now in its 20th consecutive year, the run continues to be put on by the BYU Cancer Awareness Group, a student club whose interest is raising public awareness about cancer, assisting those who are dealing with this illness, and seeking cures for this disease by raising money for cancer research. All proceeds from the race go towards cancer research occurring on Campus through the BYU Simmons Center for Cancer Research. The event features both a 5k and 10k race. This year's race will also feature a Cancer Awareness Carnival with food, music, prizes and other activities for all ages. Runners also have the opportunity to honor a cancer fighter through wearing a certificate at the race that is available through a small donation.
